The release date for the upcoming Starfield game has been changed ahead of its launch window, as per the game’s Steam page.
When visiting the Steam page for Starfield, Bethesda’s sci-fi action RPG that was supposed to premiere late last year, fans will see that the release date has been changed to “Coming Soon” rather than simply “2023.”
As it is, the upcoming title is among the most popular titles of the year, and it will almost surely be a success when it is released.
However, no one knows when the publisher will be able to release it, but players have already been making educated guesses.
Some speculated that Starfield might arrive in April to correspond with the International Day of Human Space Flight, which takes place on April 12.
Obviously, this is all conjecture, but neither Bethesda nor its parent organization ZeniMax has verified it.
All that is known is that the game will be released sometime in 2023, ideally during the first half of the year.
Outside of that, the only thing anyone can do is wait for formal word from the developers or publisher.
To add to the ambiguity, the Starfield release date has been changed on Steam, where it now says the space RPG is “Coming Soon.”
The fact that it no longer simply states “2023” provides a bit of a surprise whenever it comes to the release window, making it feel even more uncertain.
That isn’t to imply the game has indeed been delayed again or that there is an issue with the release, but Bethesda should be able to provide some light on what this change in the launch date actually implies.
Starfield changed the release date
It’s likely that the studio will make such an announcement during the forthcoming Starfield deep dive, which is expected to take place sometime after the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Livestream on January 25.
“Coming Soon” is hopefully merely the studio’s way of prepping for a firm release date for the game, but only time will tell.
Not only is the game highly anticipated, but playtesters are said to be enjoying Starfield, which speaks well for the final release.
That only adds to the difficulty of waiting for an official release date, though someone at Bethesda should be able to spill the beans soon, especially since fans have already had to wait longer due to last year’s delay.
Starfield is expected to release in 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.

It is situated in The Settled Systems, a region that spreads outward from the Solar System for around 50 light-years.
Around the year 2310, the game’s two largest factions, the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective engaged in a struggle known as the Colony War.
The game takes place 20 years after the conflict, with the major groups at odds. The player takes on the role of a customizable character who is a member of Constellation, a space exploration organization.
The game can be played in either first-person or third-person mode.
